Knowledge and understanding are ways we describe the way we as humans make
sense of the world around us. Knowledge and understanding are levels of knowing. When we
understand something, we take the new learning and connect it with something we already
know. Understanding makes knowledge usable. Understanding takes knowledge to a deeper
level. Knowledge and understanding are one in the same but correspond with each other in
different ways.
You can understand physically and emotionally. A person may have had the same bone
fracture as somebody else so they both physically understand the feeling of a fracture.
Everybody understands the emotional feeling of being hurt when they reach to grab the toilet
paper and there’s none left. Before you can understand something you first must have
knowledge of it. But just because you have knowledge of something doesn’t mean you truly
understand it.
Understanding is clear mental comprehension. Nowadays every understanding is
mechanical. For example, cashiers must understand how a register functions. Another example
is how factory worker must understand how the machines work: forklift, pallet jack, etc.
Childbirth is something men have trouble understanding. Men do not understand childbirth at
the same level as a woman, and if you’re a male don’t you dare tell a lady you understand what
it means to be in labor, because you will be executed. Running a football play. The spectators of
a football game know the players are blocking, they know the receivers are running routes,
