Throughout this course my understanding of art has changed. I have been able to change the
way I’ve been able to view artist and their work and the importance of the detail they put into their
work. As I recall in my #rst think piece I was able to appreciate how nature is its own artist and the many
things we as a society have been able to copy from nature, such examples of this are the many beautiful
creature and geographical places that have made us as human beings copy this art work and make it as
monument. As I have mentioned before in my think piece four, I was able to explain how us a society
have made this type of monument with complexity and accuracy with the construction of the statue of
liberty which symbolizes freedom and friendship.
Another thing I was able to learn from this course that has some relation with the statue of
liberty is seeing how detail meaning each section of the sculpture and painting has within its story. You
can see from think piece three I’ve demonstrated that every color, texture and imagery has to do with an
event that has personally made an impact to the artist as the case of “The Ashes of Phokion”. Looking at
these basics things that we as spectator wouldn’t really see at #rst glance is what able to captivate the
essence of artistry in once painting and sculpture, and I have been able to learn from that and use it to
my advantage in my life.
All of these skill and tactics from an artist point of view I have learned to appreciate and see how
important to our society this really is. These skills have also made an impact on history that I have found
to be very interesting and helpful. As we can see throughout the #rst chapters of the book how paintings
have been able to help later civilization learned from past events of others culture and civilizations and
use this information to further increase their knowledge of freedom. I think using this skills and
re,ecting on these skills can be-er ourselves and be-er our society, which in turn a.ect the way we
view things from art as smaller scale to live overall in a larger scale. These are all the skills that I have
learned in this course and thankful for having the opportunity to be able to learn them.
