Attorney’s Panel 11/10
During this attorney’s panel, I gained a lot of insight into a field I had very
little knowledge in prior to this semester. I am second year student who is on the
pre-med track, which is why taking this class and having the opportunity to attend
panels and events such as this one has had such a great impact on me.
Whenever I talk to those in the medical field, it seems as though they have
always had a calling for one specific area of work. Whether that is working with
kids, working in the ER, or working as a surgeon, many make it seem as though they
were destined for one path from a very young age. After this panel, I was able to
conclude that many of the lawyers did not know what type of law they wanted to
practice and many were able to figure out their best career choice through trial and
error. We saw different types of lawyers that work either with business law of
family law, yet there was one underlying theme: the rewarding feeling of helping
families and people through different tribulations was the best experience.
For me, I felt the best way to get the most from this panel was to try and tie it
into my academic path. For example, when people ask me why I want to be a doctor,
my initial response is because I love to help people. It seems cliché, but this panel
reconfirmed that if you are doing what you love to do, you will be successful and
happy.
