I choose this as my career choice for several reasons. The number one reason is that as a
recovering addict/alcoholic with an extensive criminal history that has recovered from a
seemingly hopeless state of mind and body, can help more than those who are in the field that
have not suffered the torture of addiction. I feel that helping those who are on the path that I once
was will assist in flattening the curve of addiction. This has been my career choice since I
entered back into school in 2014. An educational background in Psychology will very heavily
influence my ability to work with not only those who suffer from addiction, but those patients
that suffer from mental illness as well. I am a confirmed believer that mental health and
addiction are often counterparts of each other and either of them can cause the other to appear in
