The attribution theory is concerned with people making excuses for other’s behavior.
Attribution theory assumes that people try to determine why people do what they do. People
have two different outlooks for the excuses they make. One outlook is an internal attribution,
and the other is external. Internal attributions occur when a person is behaving a certain way
because of something about them such as their attitude, character, or personality. External
attributions occur when a person is behaving a certain way because of their situation. The
attribution theory is important to me because I use it daily in many different scenarios. I am
constantly trying to decide why people do what they do.
