In today’s society Sociologists use three theoretical perspectives: The symbolic
interactions perspective, the functionalist perspective and the conflict perspective. Each of these
provides sociologists the means for explaining how society is influenced and influences people.
This includes the “micro” analysis of small social patterns and the “macro” which covers the
larger social patterns. Micro analysis focuses on the use of symbols and face to face interactions.
Macro analysis analyzes the relationships between different parts of society and how each aspect
is adaptive. Macro also analyzes completion and differentiation between the poor and rich. Each
perspective has its own unique way of conceptualizing society, social forces, and human
behavior.
“Survey Research and Interviewing” is a sociological method which involves
interviewing or administering questionnaires or written surveys to a mass group of people. The
sociologist will then analyze the data obtain from the survey to gain information about various
similarities and differences and then come to a decision by making an educated prediction about
the material. Survey Research differs from the other methods as the Sociologist is able to obtain
