1. In the three passages Jesus Christ and the Church as empowered by Christ were presented as
the moral authority or guide, do you agree? List down the reasons why or why not?
➢ I do agree that Jesus Christ and the Church as empowered by Christ were presented as the
moral authority or guide because: “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God”
Matthew16. Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Son of the living God and Jesus Christ is who we
should base our morals to and make Him as our guide for when God the Father sent Jesus
Christ here on Earth, Jesus became our example on how we should act. Jesus taught us what
God the Father want, this is the reason why the Church and Christ has all the reason why we
should make them as our moral authority and guide.
2. What is the magisterium of the Church? Does the Church have the authority to teach us about
morality?
➢ The magisterium of the Church is to teach or interpret the sacred scriptures and sacred
traditions. The Church has the authority to teach us about morality for Christ has bestowed
the teaching to His apostles and the apostles passed it on to the bishops. It is then safe to
say that the teachings of the Church came from Jesus and this gives enough reason why the
Church have the authority to teach us about morality.
