My Theatre Background
Although, no one in my family has ever been an actor/actress, or involved in theatre in any
way. I have always liked theatre, or at least go watch some plays. I have been to a few
plays in my life, I believe one of them was called “Annie” or something like that. That
play I watched when I traveled to New York City to visit my step sister, three summers
ago. We watched this play at a park in queens I believe. There was a few hundred people,
the crowed varied from babies (a few months old) to people around my grandparents age
(80’s). Also, a few years back I went with my best friend Robert and his parents to watch a
play – which at this time, I do not recall the name of – in a big theatre in my home town in
Florida, Ft Lauderdale. This visit to the theatre, which was my very first encounter with
theatre, was quite magical. The play was a Musical, it was in “Spanglish”. The setting of
the play was in Brooklyn, New York. Majority of the characters in the play were of
Hispanic background, which to me is what made it funnier. They made jokes in Spanish
that were very hilarious, and certainly inappropriate for younger kids to hear, but that made
it more humorous.
Besides that, I have not been to another play besides the one that took place here at school
last semester. I enjoyed that play very much, I must admit. I did not expect it to be that
great, considering the fact that some of the students that were part of the play were in
several of my classes, which was quite amazing!
