The War of the Worlds
The theories that were exhibited in The War of the Worlds broadcast included the two-step
flow of communication, agenda-setting theory as well as the Magic Bullet theory. The
two-step flow was demonstrated throughout the radio broadcast with opinion leaders
broadcasted in the radio show as the news created mass media. The effect of this resulted
the importance of what was happening astronomically affected the human society. The
agenda-setting theory was present in the broadcast by using the news cast to create the
illusion of mass panic and destruction throughout the world and in different cities. The
Magic Bullet theory was used in the program by targeting the mass audience which used
the effect of people’s engagement over time to create the war between humans and the
aliens. Ultimately throughout the broadcast it exercised the use of sound effects to sway
the audience.
The two elements of the broadcast that seemed the most powerful was in the first instance
of contact with the unidentified beings in the beginning of the broadcast as well as the up
to date sequence of what was taking place. With the news anchor on the radio explaining
what he was seeing he described the detail of the objects and the events occurring. Another
element to the broadcast was while they were fighting the “Martians” the detail of the
warfare that was exhibited made the audience have an impacting affect. At the end of the
