The Walt Disney Company originated in Los Angeles,
California on October 16, 1923. Brothers Roy and Walt Disney
founded the company as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. As
time went on, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney
Productions in 1929 and publicly traded as Walt Disney
Productions in 1938 (Ryan, 2011). Once the company expanded, it
took on its current name, The Walt Disney Company. Now the
company is the leading multinational entertainment and mass
media conglomerate. The Walt Disney Company consists of five
different segments: Media Networks, Studio Entertainment, Parks
and Resorts, Consumer Products and Interactive Media.
