•The more nodes and links that exist in a network the more complex it becomes.
•More reliant on external suppliers of goods and services (outsourcing).
•External suppliers also dependent upon a web of second tier supplier, and they not
aware of many of the second or third tier supplier that feed their supply chain.
•Potential for unexpected disruptions to the supply chain is high.
PROCESS COMPLEXITY
•Innumerable processes –processes internal to the firm and the processes managed
by upstream and downstream partners.
