In this film, Mark Zuckerberg presented both his private and public self. To show his
private self, he kept to himself and his partner about the idea of Facebook. However, he
had a blog which presented his public self. In this blog he wrote about his ideas, as well as,
his life. Although, he was allowing people to view his website, he was not allowing people
to get to know him on a personal level throughout the movie. This was strictly business,
and if it wasn’t for his blog he would have never presented his public self.
Also, everyone in this movie who was a part of Facebook displayed their public and
private self. The showed their private self throughout a public social network. This gave
people the opportunity to communicate among their peers and build new friendships.

In the film, Mark sees his old girlfriend in a club that he had been attending that night with
his friend and their dates. During this scene, he had made a failed attempt to apologize to
her for slandering her on his blog. As far as perception goes, she was able to see right
through him in the sense that even though he was trying to apologize, she knew that what
he said he meant on his blog. It caused much emotion in this scene. You could tell that he
felt bad for his actions, and she was also obviously upset at him.

The scene that really stuck out to me was when they were talking about coding. If my
fiance’ wasn’t a computer science major, I don’t think that I would have actually known
what they were talking about. However, I think having an understanding of what the
technological terms are in this entire movie will help to give you a better understanding of
what they are talking about.
