The Smoking Effect
As he inhaled the hot smoke into his lungs, the sense of calmness overtook his body. It
was only a shallow drag at first. As he eased into the process, he took longer drags, holding it in
and repeating it again. It was a voluntarily action that he smoked that cigarette, but it is an
involuntarily action for others around him in public to inhale that smoke. Just as much as he felt
satisfied with this guilty pleasure, the damages he caused to people around was about the same.
The more drags he took, the more exposed these people are to secondhand smoke, putting their
health in danger. It is not wrong to smoke, but the act of smoking in public should be reconsider
for the benefits of the environment and the health of other people in the area.
Although it is recognized as a bad or unhealthy habit, people across the globe still
continue to smoke cigarettes. Many health studies have been conducted with general warnings
being given out, cigarette sales continue to rise. For many smokers, smoking in public has
become a norm as they are continually on the move and in need of inhaling a cigarette. But with
more and more smokers filling up the public areas, the consequences becomes bigger,
encouraging more to be against public smoking. What the smokers don’t realize is that smoking
in public not only could harm other people, but it can also bring them more disadvantages. The
public will see the act of smoking as a crime, encouraging it to be banned. As many know,
smoking already has a negative impact or image and it is up to the smoker to continue it or not,
but a lot of people will not want to risk their health in public involuntarily because of these
