After watching the Science of Baby, a documentary by National Geographic, I learned new
facts that I didn’t know before about Babies. One of the things I learned is when Karen
Rosenberg explained the stage in which the baby has to leave through the female pelvis,
the baby has to twist and turn in order for its head to be able to fit, the head has to start
with a sideway position, when it gets part way through the birth canal is gets stuck and has
to twist and turn 90 degrees to come out. But the fact that fascinated me the most is the
timing a baby has to leave the mother womb, the shorter or longer time the baby stays in
the womb affect its growth. The baby after 9 months is developed enough to be able to live
out of the mother’s womb, for the babies that stay in longer will be more developed and
less dependent on others but will have a bigger brain which makes it harder to for the baby
to pass through the birth canal, and if the baby stayed less than nine months, premature, it
will be easier to pass through the canal but will be less developed and more subject to all
kinds of risks premature babies are subject to.
Another fact mentioned is the methods of giving birth; one of them is giving birth in water.
Babies that are born underwater breath from their mother’s placenta until they are exposed
to air and ready to take their first and toughest breath in their lives, inflating the lungs for
