We Are Not What We Earn
In this advanced civilization, many people still assume that the value of human beings
relates to their earnings or income. Nevertheless, we must look how salary is interpreted. In the
video “We Are Not What We Earn” uploaded by The School of Life on Youtube, the speaker claims
that the wage of a person cannot define who he or she. The wage does not represent somebody’s
intelligence, personalities or value. In fact, the salary for a job depends on the supply and demand
of the economic market. The more people are able to accomplish a specific type of job; the less
money they will be offered regardless of its human goodness importance. For example, holding
a dying person’s hand is important if considering its humanitarian perspectives, but in terms of
financial aspect, this job is not worth a lot of money since everyone can do it. If the job is in high
difference between a job’s wage and a person’s worthiness.
