The Purpose of Being Educated
In todays society there are two different types of groups, those who received an education
and those who did not. In Newman’s essay he was conveying the fact that if one posses that pow–
er, one is intact and gives out more to our society. “The importance of education in society is in–
dispensable and cohering, which is why society and knowledge cannot be ever separated into
two distinct entities.” (Rohini Mohan pars 2-3) Contributing to our society is essential in our
everyday life because people rely on the educated for certain situations, wether it is by being a
doctor and supplying medical help to those who are ill, or even being a lawyer and knowing the
laws to keeping the people protected. Both of which are people who have attended a university
