The Political and Cultural Aspects of Byzantium and the Islamic Empire
There are few great civilizations that have united a separated group of peoples into one strong
community. Byzantium and the Islamic empire are two civilizations that have done just that and le- their
mark on the western world. Emperor Justinian brought together things from the Roman and Greek
civilizations into a codi1ed form of law that united Byzantium under Christianity while the Muslim
prophet Muhammad united the Bedouin tribes of Arabia under Islam. Although the two religions
in3uenced their culture and promoted the protection of family, and justice to others, they di4er in the
