programmingcareer.ChadissuggestingthatifyouwanttobesuccessfulintheITenvironment
youmusttreatyourcareerasabusiness.Thebookisdividedinto5parts,thosearechoosing
yourmarket,investinginyourproduct,Executing,Marketing…Notjustforsuits,and
maintainingyouredge.Chadexpectingyoutobepassionateaboutprogramminginlearning
differentlanguagesnotjustfromCtoC++,andifyouarenotthatpassionate,thenyouare
probablyinthewrongprofession. 
Likingnewtechnologybutneverlearnedmoreaboutitbecauseitwasneverusedinthe
market?Chadsuggeststhattherearealotofoptionstoinvestyourmoney,onesthatareeither
riskyandhasgoodrewards,oronesthatarenotriskybutitsrewardisnotthatmuch.One

companieswerewillingtotakestepintowebpages.Technicallyhavinglessdemandandmore
supplywillcauseadropinpriceforthatspecificitemandifthereismoredemandthanthe
supplythenthepricewillrise,andthisiswhathappenedwhenmorepeoplewereabletolearn
HTML.ThiscouldberelatedtoChad’spointintakingriskyrouteandthiscanbedoneby

abletofindwasUnity3D.Ilikedthatenginebecauseitwaseasytoprogramandrunandtest
yourcode,IneverlookedatotherbecauseIwantedtostayatthetechnologyIknow,inother
wordstheonethatIcanwritecodeinanddothebehaviorIwant.Ididnotwanttotrysomething
complicatedornew,yearslaterIfoundoutthatmoregamedesignersswitchedtoanothergame
enginethatIdidnotwanttotrybecauseoftheirnewwayofcoding.Moreoverthegame

waytomakegamesandresourceswereprovidedtoallgamedesigners,thoseresourcescouldbe

designershadmoretimetofocusmoreonthegameplayratherthanthecontent.Soasaresponse
Iswitchedtoit,andIlearnedtheirvisualscriptingwhichisbasicallyanotherwayofcoding,but
usevisualnodesandconnectthemtoachieveyourgoal.DuringthetimeIspentusingUnity3DI
hadtolearndifferentlanguagesandtomethisisagoodexperiencethatIhavegainedandwould
givemetheadvantageoverotherslateronmyprogrammingcareer.Alsonottomentionthatthis
iswhatChadsuggestedtodoinyourprogrammingcareer. 
 Moreover,Chadstatesthatyoumustmaintainyouredgebyknowingthenew
technologiesaswellasknowingwhatispromisingandwhatisnot.Thuscanbeachievedby
changing,meaningtotrytoadoptthenewtechnologies.Thisisaveryimportantpointinthe
softwareengineeringcareertobelikethosewhoknewhowtomakeawebpagelongtimeago
whichhadaprettygoodreward.BeforeIreadthisbookIneverthoughtthatprogrammers
wouldneedtoknowvariousthingsinorderforthemtobesuccessful,andthishelpedme
knowingthatinorderformetosucessfulinthisfieldIwouldneedtokeepupwiththenew
technologiesandadoptthenewones.Notonlythat,butalsoasaprogrammerIneedtoknowthe
businessdomain. 
Firstthingpeoplelooksforishappiness.“We’realllookingforhappiness.Oncewehave

therulesofthebusinessyouareworkingonevenifitisnotrequiredforyoutolearnandlearn
howvariousthingsworks.
ToconcludeChadstatesthatforustoachievehappiness,weneedtofindagoodcareer
thatprovidesourbasichumanneeds.Tofindthisgoodcareerweneedtodevelopourskillstobe
better,andifwedonottrytoimproveourskillsthenwearenotpassionateandweshould
concludethatweareinthewrongprofession.Chadassumesthatyouarepassionateandlooking
toknoweverysinglething,howthingsworksandtherulesinthebusinessyouareworkingin.

passionateprogrammerdoesnotonlyneedyoutoswitchfromCtoC++butfromCtoJava. 
