The Parable of the Sadhu
1. If I were Buzz McCoy, in other words, according to my values, I think everyone
should take responsibility for their own choices. Since in my values, the importance
level of saving life is higher than anything, even if I cannot reach for my final goal of
climbing, I still have many chances to do it, but life is gone forever. Maybe I would
communicate with the team members, the people who support me can save sadhu with
me together, others who do not agree with me can head on and continue their trip.
Besides, I would not complain other members for not choosing to stand by me, since I
can only be responsible for my own choices, not others’ decisions.
2. On the basis of explaining this issue, first I would like to explain my philosophical
view. I think the fact that everyone makes different decisions is due to the difference
of their three kind of views. The so-called three views, first is the view of the world,
which is the operational law and logical relations of the world in your eyes; The
second is the views of life, which is the meaning of live and dead, for example, what
are we living for? The third, and also most important, is personal values, which means
what is the most valuable for you, for example, is it the freedom and dignity, love,
blessings, life experience, or to change the world? In philosophical category, the
perfection of three views can causes “theater effects”, and if you comply with the one
kind of system, the explanation for your behavior of all things and the self can be
justified in this system, the view of world help you determine the basis for everything.
So back to this case, it is possible that for Buzz, the importance of “reach the
goal and give up personal morality, or give up team goal and follow the personal
morality? In other words, we can choose only one direction to continue our life.
