The online classes have many advantage and disadvantage. Online courses are a
challenge for many people. Not everybody has the same ability to learn and concentrate by just
sitting in front of a computer. Many people don’t have the proper environment in their house
to take classes in silence. Some others don’t have good computer skills, so it is harder for them
to go to a web site to find a class and to be able to take the class without a person telling them
what to do step by step. One of the disadvantages of the online classes is that students are not
able to ask a question and get an answer right away; instead they have to send email to their
professor and wait for an answer which can take long time. Another reason why some students
dislike the online system is because this method doesn’t give them to option to participate in
classes by responding to their teachers and classmates question and participate in discussions.
The worst aspect about this type of lesson is that if one day there is a problem with the internet
at home and the internet provider is unable to fix it the same day, the student will be affected
and unable to complete the class or complete any assigned quizzes or assignments. However, not
everything is bad about taking online classes. Many students prefer them instead of going to
campus. Online students who have good computers skills can save time because they don’t have
to travel to the school. This is especially helpful because many people who are in college also have a
full-time job and they also want to spend more time with their family after work and school.
The online system can save money as well since people don’t have to spend much gas driving.
Last, many online students think that they can enjoy classes more because there won’t be any
interruptions of students asking questions or talking during class so they can concentrate
better. Both, the online and on-campus education methods have advantages and disadvantages; it
all depends on each type of student.
