The Mountaintop by Katori Hall
The entire play took place in Memphis, Tennessee at the Lorraine Motel in room
306. The play took place on the night of April 3rd, 1968 and the morning of April 4th,
1968. The time moved as if time would normally move on earth. The two characters,
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Camae, were having an easy-going time throughout the
entirety of the play. The play was based in a time where civil rights were something that
was booming. Blacks and whites were not getting along so it caused lots of tensions.
Many boycotts and freedom walks were being taken place. The world was not as
peaceful as it could have been at the era of time that this play was based off of. Blacks
were still being treated unfairly. The mood of the play the beginning was very happy. Dr.
Kang, as Camae says it, and Camae were flirting with each other and having smoking
