The Mistreatment of Indigenous People
Why have Canadian aboriginals been treated so poorly, if they resided on this land
before all the immigrants who call this country home now? The Indigenous people have been
treated like they are less than the common person, ever since the first settlers, to the present
Canada. Although there was more violence against them and their ways of life before, they
are still treated unfairly, they have their own land but even that is being targeted so the
government can develop a pipeline. There have also been some disputes over lobster fishery
in Nova Scotia as well, the Indigenous people rely on the fishery for their livelihood. This
sort of unfair treatment is intolerable, the Canadian government should not make false
promises, they should leave the Aboriginal people and their land alone.
