The Meaning of Dreams
Dreams have captivated a wide range of people leaving them perplexed about what
dreams mean and why we have them. There are numerous studies and theories about dreams but
there has yet to be unanimity of its purpose. Some theories are psychoanalytic theory,
information-processing theory and activation-synthesis model of dreaming. There are also a
variety of dream interpretations that have been collected worldwide. These theories and
interpretations give an explanation of what could possibly be the meaning of dreams.
Sigmund Freud is the first and famously known dream theorists in history. Freud’s
psychoanalytic theory together with psychoanalytic perspective studies stated that dreams are
there to signify a person’s wants, thoughts and/or feelings while in an unconscious state, in other
