the film.
Drum and Bass Baby!
I love how the Matrix used drum and bass music to convey action throughout the film.
An excellent example of drum and bass being used was when Neo went through combat training
with Morpheus. When they first begin fighting, rhythmic fragmentation built tension between the
two of them. Morpheus waves his hand; drums play, signaling a start to the fight, they stop once
over to Neo. Neo waves his arms around; the drums play again. The drums act as a crescendo
reflecting the actions of the two because, over time, as Neo and Morpheus fight, the drums
become more and more aggressive in volume and quick in tempo. Suddenly silence, and in
comes the drum and bass music. Drum and bass music has a rhythmic drum loop and has a fast
