Life Changing Experience
Everyone goes through memorable experiences that influence their lives forever. Many
people don’t realize the influence these events have on them, but they learn a valuable lesson
about themselves. When I was reading “Beauty: When the Other Dancer is the Self,” by Alice
Walker, I remembered the event that happened when I was ten years old. Alice Walker becomes
blind and had a mark on her eye and no longer thinks she is beautiful, but her family and
daughter help her overcome the accident. When I was ten I had an accident where I hurt my face
and no longer thought I was beautiful and my mom helped me overcome this. Alice Walker and I
both had experiences that made us feel we weren’t beautiful anymore, but we both had people in
our lives to help us overcome it.
