The Jodi Arias Trial and Low Self-Control Theory
If you haven’t heard the name Jodi Arias, then obviously, you have been hiding
underneath a rock. Jodi Arias was a beautiful 28year-old making headlines around the world for
murdering her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander. In this paper, I will discuss how Arias’ crime can
be linked to Gottfredson and Hirschi’s Low Self-Control Theory. At first glimpse, one would
speculate, “how could such a beautiful woman turn out to be such an over–kill killer.” As the
story unfolds, this beautiful face that was sweeping through our headlines, leaving millions in
doubt, would soon be the face that America viewed as an evil, narcissistic female.
