The communication process is considered vital to all kind of businesses. It is extremely
important to make sure that the right person gets the right message, in the right format. If
this process isnot done in the right way, it could affect the business and be the difference
between profit and loss, success and failure. Effective business communications is
extremely important to all businesses, therefore everyone who is involved, should
understand the process.
Communication can be explained as exchange of feelings, opinions, information and ideas
between one person or group to another person or group. (Kennedy, 2011) People
communicate to each other in order to survive and to co-operate for instance, but, how do
we communicate?
Communication process
1. Sender: is the person, group, or organization who initiates the communication;
2. Message: the idea that the sender wants to communicate;
3. Receiver: the person, group, or organization for whom the message is aimed;
4. Feedback: reactions to the message;
5. Channel/Medium: choosing how the messages will be conveyed (face-to-face, phone…);
6. Context: the situation, the environment in which the message is delivered;
7. Noise/Interference: anything which disturbs/distorts the message.
The effective communication
The sender must choose an appropriate code and medium, consider the context when
sending the information and check the feedback; whereas the receiver must pay attention
to the message, decode it correctly and the most important, give feedback. The feedback
will allow the sender to verify if the message sent was either understood or not. In fact,
