The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky
The idiot is a novel authored by Fyodor Dostoevsky and first published in the year 1869.
Later, the novel has had more publication in 1957 and 2011. Firstly written in The Russian
language allows later translation to English. The author has presented his idea in philosophical
fiction. It is fascinating just how he shows ‘the idiot’ leaving the reader to digest. He begins his
venture by introducing Prince Lev Nikolayevich Myshkin whom he considers having come from
a Swiss clinic and traveling by train to Saint Petersburg. Fyodor presents the young man
suffering from epilepsy in his late twenties, to have a link with the loyal families in the Russia.
Fyodor intends to develop the idea of an ideal man whom he terms as a positively beautiful
being. The author uses the Prince as the best aspect of human beings believing his difference
from Mr. Ganya and General Yepa chin of the similar social class. Fyodor’s main quest is to
know what happens to the ideal man when he interacts with the real world. It seems that the
perfect man cannot change the world, but the world changes him to be an utterly misleading
human. The author presents the world with many drunkards and much emptiness. It is so
