The Experience of River Trail Nature Center
I enjoyed going to the River Trail Nature Center with my instructor and classmates
on December 3rd. The weather was so good for us to have a trip on that day. I learned a lot
of useful knowledge about ecosystems from the explanations of my professor, the trail
guide, the handouts, the trail maps, the discussion with my classmates, and some of my
observations.
In the beginning, we went to a Closer Encounter. There are numerous native wild
animals in individual cages such as Great Horned Owl, Red-tailed hawk, Coyote, Red
Fox, Bald Eagle, American Kestrel, Striped Skunk and Swainson’s Hawk. My feeling in
the first moment when I saw those wild animals in the separated cages was really bad
because those animals should live in the wild. The animals should be in the natural
environment, so they can hunt what they want instead of being fed in their individual
cages. However, after the explanations of my professor and the tour guide and
communicating with my classmates, I definitely changed my opinion about those animals
