The presidential election of Salvadore Allende would be one of the most consequential election
in Chilean history. This particular election is one that has a variety underlying factors that added
to its importance. Including the historical background of Chile and how its political background
was directly affected by foreign powers. After this election the course of Chilean history would
be drastically altered. The situation immediately after the election of President Allende would
highlight the political catastrophe and confusion that would define Allende’s presidency. The
CIA memorandum can give us insight as to why someone like Allende would be elected and why
it was much harder to deny him the presidency from the beginning. This essay also hopes show
