The Competitive Spirit of Retail Giants: Wal-Mart vs. K-Mart
Wal-Mart is the biggest retailer in the world, nearly four times the size of its nearest

all-around store than K-Mart because of the discounts, service and employees. Buying items that
are on sell and have good discounts can help save money.
According to one analyst, some urban shoppers are lured to suburban Wal-Mart because
of cheap prices. They say K-Mart advantage is that it has more stores closer where some people
live. “They have become an ethnic discount store and that could be a successful strategy”
(Schultz, 2012, para. 9). Once Wal-Mart stores move to these areas then it’s going to change
where shoppers will go to try to find better discounts. K-Mart is trying to build a niche in places
where their prices want have to be as low as Wal-Mart’s. Yet Wal-Mart is already starting to build
