Oliver Sack’s “The Colorblind Painter” tells the true account of an artist who
loses his ability to see color during his successful career as a painter. This man, referred
to only as Mr. I, describes his transition to colorblindness, how it affected him, and his
eventual acceptance of it. Mr. I had three basic steps in his transformation to becoming a
“colorblind painter”; denial and depression, tolerance and adaptation, and lastly
embracing his condition.
