As humans, we learn from our past; however, first we must know our past. For several
years classical and ancient studies have interested me. I became so fascinated with this
subject that I have decided to be a Social Science Education major in college. Learning
about civilizations and religions has always intrigued me. Being an educator is one of the
great careers that I would like to pursue. As I consider this profession to be a great
fascination and endless provider of information and opportunity to learn, I would enjoy
nothing more than to spend my life devoted to such an honorable career.
During my seventh grade year, I had a class called World History. This particular class
sparked a fire to have a history based career. This fire ignited when my teacher gave the
class a syllabus that started with the Ice Age and ended with present day. I became so
fascinated with different cultures and how mankind has changed over time. Because of my
eagerness to learn, I started to read. Many of the books I became interested in were based
on Greek mythology learning ancient myths that had been handed down from generation to
generation absolutely fascinated me. This helped me gain an interest in learning about
ancient civilizations, ancient languages, and religions.
Along with my teachers, my family also helped to inspire me. Since I was young, my
grandfather told me storied of his life in England, interesting me in the monarchy system. I
