The community event I chose was a local car show downtown. There was everything from
Ferrari’s to classic Corvettes and everything in between. The cars were all police escorted
to Main Street were they had their own strip of road blocked off for them. All proceeds
went to helping kids in need which made it that much more important for me to attend. It
felt really good being a part of the event not only because I love cars, but because I knew I
was making a difference. Being a part of the “new” community I was pretty antisocial at
first, but more and more people would come up to I and we’d talk about cars which broke
the ice. I even saw a few friends from school who I got to catch up with. I would love to
participate in this again! I’m already trying to find out the date for next year’s event.
I believe my relationship to others is dependent. It’s not interdependent because we’re not
really depending on each other. Most of my few friends we just worry about ourselves.
That’s what I do anyway. To create a stronger bond throughout college I could probably
start having more interdependent morals. I could start involving myself with other people
and being there for them. I feel like using that mindset would develop a good source of
support for your life. It makes you treat people how you wish to be treated. I don’t really
have any resistance toward these views. Getting involved and making connections is
wonderful for your future, especially if you connect with the right people. It’s sad to say,
but in most cases it’s not WHAT you know, but WHO you know.
