Today July 11, 1804 Alexander Hamilton was killed by Aaron Burr who is now wanted for
murder. The two met today on dueling grounds in Weehawken, New Jersey, to brawl in the
final battle of a prolonged political as well as a personal fight. In fact, the two men on two
opposing sides constantly disagrees in the political field. After unsuccessfully trying to
resolve problems cordially, the two political enemies shot from a .56 caliber dueling pistol
ending Hamilton’s life and his political career. However, Burr’s career has also ended since
he is charged with two counts of murder.
This is not the first battle between Hamilton the Federalist and Burr the Republican. As a
matter of fact, the first major battle that occurred in 1791 was a result from Aaron Burr
successfully obtaining a United States Senate seat from Hamilton’s own father-in-law.
Hamilton was outraged because Philip Schuyler, his influential father-in-law did not back
his policies. Burr ended up winning the election and this enraged Hamilton.
Four years ago, Aaron Burr acquired and published “The Public Conduct and Character of
John Adams, Esq., President of the United States.,” a document highly critical of Adams, a
Federalist (PBS). The author of this published document is none other than Hamilton, who
expected the circulation of it to be private. Unfortunately, Hamilton was ashamed after its
publication and it aided disagreement between the Federalists. Within the same year,
