The Blind Side
The Blind Side follows the story of Michael Oher, in flashback fashion, as he struggles
from being a homeless high school student to making it into the National Football League.
Throughout the movie, there is a great disparity between the life Michael once lived, and the life
he currently has due to his foster family. Arguably the most powerful moment in the movie is
when Michael’s foster mom takes Michael to his new room. Michael looks around and says:
“I’ve never had one of these before”. His foster mother replies: “What? Your own room?”.
Michael then says: “No. A bed” (The Blind Side, 2009). A simple everyday object that millions
of us take for granted is something that people in this country don’t even have.
