Passage 1
This passage is taken from story “The Birthmark” when Aylmer had a dream that he was treating
Georgiana’s birthmark and Aylmer’s concerns about the birthmark were coming out from his
control as he was talking in sleep. But Georgiana never confronted Aylmer due to his attitude but
she only thinks how she can fulfill his desires by treating this birthmark of her. Georgiana told
Aylmer to treat her birthmark and she agrees to visit his laboratory. Aylmer knows that he will
be in control of himself in the laboratory.
Georgiana ironically asks him to remove her birthmark as she somehow challenge’s him to do
this experiment as Aylmer treat himself as God as he says that he has attempted to create life
through science which shows his intention or willingness to become God as he tries to play with
