The Benefits of Business Ethics – Ethical Behavior of
Decision Makers: the Empirical Findings from Croatia
The framework for ethical decision making in business has five parts: the ethical issue intensity,
business ethics evaluations and evaluations, opportunity, organisational factors, and individual
factors. Ethical issue intensity refers to the importance of an ethical issue in the eyes of an
individual, work group, organisation. The majority of business decisions are made by a group of
people rather than by a single individual. When these group members try to make an ethical
decision, they must first determine how important the issue is and what decision is required.
Companies’ ethical decisions are not solely based on their own personal values and morals. It is
based on the entire organisation. Organizations use rules and corporate governance to help their
employees understand and follow their employers’ business ethics.
The article “The Benefits of Business Ethics Ethical Behavior of Decision Makers : the
Empirical Findings from Croatia” is written by Ivana Bulog, an assistant professor from University
of Split, Faculty of Economics and Ivan Grančić of University of Split, Faculty of Economics. From
my reading through the whole article, it is clear that it focuses on the importance of ethics towards
business and decision making. The authors begin with a introduction with stating that how
individuals faced the problems that require ethics in action. Ivana Bulog and Ivan Grančić drive
most of their arguments by using their analysis results coming off of their research of a company
in Croatia.
