The 6 Hour Workday
If employee had their work time cut to 6 hours a day, could they still get, what was
originally, 8 hours worth of work done? A February 2016 HR study not only says they can, but it
also says that they will be at work more often and they’ll work harder when they’re there too.
One Swedish company had switched to a 6 hour schedule and saw nothing but positives:
workers were coming to work well rested and were working more productively as well. It’s also a
great talking point in terms of recruitment and retention. Would you be willing to leave a 6 hour
job to work 8 hours for the same amount of pay? That same company, Brath, gets more work
done in 6 hours than most 8 hour companies do. The CEO believes it’s difficult to have
employees be working at their best for an entire 8 hours and that 6 is plenty of time to do
anything they might have tried to do with 8 hours of time. If employees want the 6 hour workday,
