The 2015 New York Pest Expo – Honoring Women in Pest Control Management was
held in Fort Lee, NJ on November 11, 2015 from 8 am to 6 pm. The expo included
five speakers and a variety of industry vendors. The event focused mostly on woman
in pest control management, entomology, and the results of recent research studies.
Each speaker went over individual pest problems and how to target the issues
effectively based on their personal research.
Dr. Susan C Jones kicked off the night discussing bed bug resistance mechanisms,
their role in disease transmission, and feeding habits. Susan is a Professor in the
Entomology Department at The Ohio State University and she is the OSU Extension
state specialist on household and structural insect pests. She emphasized her speech
