Texas Legislature
The Legislature of the State of Texas succeeded the Congress of The Republic of
Texas in 1845 and had its first regular session from the 16th of February to the 13th of
May in 1846. The Bicameral Legislature has 31 members in the Senate and 150
members in the House of Representatives. The Texas Legislature meets every second
Tuesday of January of each odd numbered year. The Senate serves four year terms
and the House of Representatives serve two years, neither of the positions have limits.
