Scholar and Practitioner are two topics I hear often during my educational
journey. Both are regulated by rules, polices, guidelines and laws. When I studied
psychology, I was well verse on those guidelines specially the code of conduct for
psychologist but each petitioner has their own version of code of conduct and ethics. The
military gave me also some ethical guidelines to rule my career, especially since I worked
with budget, money and contracts. Now that I am studying a MBA in Business
Intelligence and Data Analytics I am bliss to what that code of conduct and what is the
ethical code for both scholars and practitioners in the Geographic Information System
(GIS). But before we continue this paper, we first must define what ethics is and what is
ethics in GIS field.
