Tension between self-interest and a greater society
For individuals to achieve their self-interests while still using ethical methods is a
possible balance in the society. First of all, the self-interest here is different from selfish. Self-
interest is fulfilling one’s own needs and take care of himself, whereas selfish is doing no matter
what to gain the greatest profits for himself without concerning others at all. People who are
doing things motivated by self-interest would feel pleasure, but selfish people would be feeling
