Teens assault pedestrians, steal their money, and even extort other people’s car. What
makes them commit such crimes? It is likely that they are affected by violent video or
game, rather than directly by other people it is likely that their behaviors are influenced by
watching violent video and playing aggressive games. Nowadays, more and more teens
enjoy the violent media. Drs. Anderson and Gentile’s research shows that children are
spending increasing amount of time playing video games—13 hours per week for boys, on
average, and 5 hours per week for girls (Anderson et. al 81). Furthermore, over sixty
percent of television shows broadcasted in prime time contain some form of violence.
However, teens need to be far from them, because they can have bad effects on growth of
teens, bring about illusion, and teens have a right to be protected from detrimental media.
To begin with, violent media can get in the way of teens from grow into healthy member
of society. Firstly, their individual mind can be polluted by cruel scenes. More than one
thousand scientific studies and reviews conclude that teens who view violent media are
more likely to have increased feelings of hostility, decreased emotional response to the
portrayal of violence and injury. Also they believe that the world is a ‘meaner and scarier’
place than it is. If children begin to think that violence is a normal behavior, they are
difficult to change their thoughts later on in life. Additionally, teens cannot possess proper
sociality because of violent media. In most video games women are usually portrayed as
