Teens and Sex
Is there a specific maturity level or age at which an individual is set to be sexually active?
This question has been seen emerge more frequently now, than in any other prior generation. In
2013, a study showed that 47% of high school students between the 9th and 12th grade reported to
be sexually active. Generalizing ages within these grade levels it can be inferred that the ages
range between 14 and 18. Nearly 10,000 young people between the ages of 13 and 24 were
diagnosed to being HIV positive, a death-leading disease. Teens view sex as any other regular
activity and frequently do not stop to analyze the degree of the consequences of their
irresponsible actions. The meaning of “sex” may vary greatly from culture to culture, moral
values, and personal beliefs. Known that the teen years are the most life-lesson learning years of
