Persuasive speech-Teen Bullying
Growing up, almost every child experiences teasing. But, it isn’t always as innocuous as
it seems.
What happens when it is taken to a new level–when this teasing becomes so repetitive
that it hurts another child?
This is when teasing takes the form of bullying.
Bullying is a type of behavior that focuses on belittling someone else or making them
feel inadequate. It includes harassment, physical harm, repeatedly demeaning speech
and efforts to ostracize another person.
But, “Fighting means you could lose. Bullying means you can’t. A bully wants to beat
somebody; he doesn’t want to fight somebody.”
Some people would argue that bullying is a normal aspect of teenage life–something
that is not so concerning. But, I firmly believe that it is harmful to both the bully and the
its victim. In reality, bullying can have such a powerful impact on the mind of a person
that victims often draw back from their social life or even lead a life in depression. And,in
many other extreme cases, people also resort to drug use in a way to cope with it and
make an effort to ‘fit in’ with the rest of the students.
Even though schools have been making a lot of effort to prevent this behaviour, bullying
still continues to be a very common practice. For instance, one of my own freshman
friend was being bullied for the past few months; and the bullies were none other than
the juniors of this school. Judging from the warm welcome that I received from the
