Technology Versus Today’s Society
It is a cold winter night and you have your night dress on ready to go to bed, however,
instead of opening the door to your room it now leads somewhere else entirely. Step in and
imagine hopping into a time machine and traveling from the early 1900’s to the present-day
world and taking in even a small amount of the society that is experienced today. Now imagine
the potential shock a person would experience in seeing such societal change and the
environmental devolvement that have occurred in such a comparatively short time to the age of
our planet. In less than about one hundred years the human population has made the biggest leap
in technology in the written history of human civilizations by far, which has put the brain
capacity to develop and learn to the test. Also testing ones mind on how to approach such
diversity in the most lucrative way. All these changes are one of the many ways people have
evolved but at what cost? Making some question if maybe this leans to a devolve of sort even in
recent times. That being said, technology has already had an overall lasting negative effect on
society, human behavior, learning strategies, and even the earth as we come to learn its full
effects from various perspectives.
Quarantined away from the ones we love and the activities that keep us sane definitely
was not an ideal situation but at the time was the safest form of action to take. Our homes and
safe spaces are now transformed to areas where we hold conference meetings, take tests, and do
anything else related to a stressful day of work and school (Bures). Technology may have helped
us prevail but also may have been the reason we were forced into said undesirable situation in
