Technology Versus Today’s Society
It is a cold winter night and you have your night dress on ready to go to bed, however,
instead of opening the door to your room it now leads somewhere else entirely. Step in and
imagine hopping into a time machine and traveling from the early 1900’s to the present-day
world and taking in even a small amount of the society that is experienced today. Now imagine
the potential shock a person would experience in seeing such societal change and the
environmental devolvement that have occurred in such a comparatively short time to the age of
our planet. In less than about one hundred years the human population has made the biggest leap
in technology in the written history of human civilizations by far, which has put the brain
capacity to develop and learn to the test. Also testing ones mind on how to approach such
diversity in the most lucrative way. All these changes are one of the many ways people have
evolved but at what cost? Making some question if maybe this leans to a devolve of sort even in
recent times. That being said, technology has already had an overall lasting negative effect on
society, human behavior, learning strategies, and even the earth as we come to learn its full
effects from various perspectives.

safe spaces are now transformed to areas where we hold conference meetings, take tests, and do
anything else related to a stressful day of work and school (Bures). Technology may have helped
us prevail but also may have been the reason we were forced into said undesirable situation in

the first place. Technology has had a great impact on our environment as we have misused it and
torn down not only centuries old ecosystems, but the millions of years-old ozone that protects us
(Naikoo). Many diseases, viruses, etc. have adapted to the technology that was originally created
to combat them and as a result we have essentially trained them to be better resistant to modern
medicines. We have greatly increased the average human lifespan” but there may be unforeseen
consequences that will completely reverse this as a result of the increase of technology in
medicine (Naikoo; Bures).
Some argue that modern society has coevolved with technology but now there is more
evidence that our behavior seems to revolve around its existence. Others say that society was
able to be as evolved because of the human capacity to understand and create such advanced
technology. Begging the question on how much it has truly changed our behaviors and
