ANSWER
Supply Chain Management is primarily concerned with the coordinated flow of goods and
services from suppliers through factories, warehouses and stores until they reach customers in
the right quantities, locations and time, and at the same time minimizing total system cost
without compromising service requirements. (Simchi-Levi, 2001) The objectives of supply chain
management are to maximize overall value generated, minimize costs, better asset utilization and
revenue growth. Technology has helped those involved in supply chain management to achieve
the stated objective as such was termed the life blood of supply chain.
However the introduction of the internet and internet based technology brought with it
both positive and negative impacts to supply chain management. According to the Merriam-
Webster dictionary internet is “an electronic communications network that connects computer
