Executive Overview
A-1 Information Systems currently utilizes a manual paper processing system along with a
legacy automated system that uses COBOL for managing employee information. Due to
the nature of these outdated and insufficient systems, there is duplication of work and
employee data in the current system. A-1 Information Systems is seeking to modernize its
systems and computing resources. The HR department has been selected for the first phase
of modernization. The HR modernization would include and is not limited to the
following:
•New system development for: employee information system, employee directory,
employee payroll.
•Upgrade/replace mainframe and micro systems.
•Import data from obsolete database and COBOL file systems.
•Incorporate employee portal with new developed system.
•Integrate secure access for Human Resource Administrators and Managers.
By developing a new system for HR along with upgrading the hardware and integrating
both the employee portal and secure access for HR Administrators and managers will
increase efficiency. The improved efficiency will greatly reduce overall cost for A-1
Information Systems. The HR modernization will also enhance the overall security of
