Since 2011, Syria has faced problems in their country where residents feel
the need to leave and stay in a refugee camps like in Jordan. Because of the poverty
and hard life in the refugee camps, parents feel obligated to marry their underage
children so they can be free and have a better economic standing. This creates
conflict since most girls are younger than eighteen and Jordan law states that you
have to be older that eighteen to get married. People have found a loophole in the
law, therefore, girls can marry as young as fifteen. Early marriage is not uncommon
since it has existed before the Syrian crisis but this has triggered a slow increase.
When refugees arrive at the camp the volunteers make them sign an “honor”
contract that does not allow parents to permit early marriages, though people
